Sony is developing a portable device which will both cool you off in the hot summer and heat you up the cold winter months.
Called the Reon Pocket, the tiny device will slot into a special pocket in the back of a shirt.
It utilizes something called the Peltier Effect which uses a small electric current to absorb or give out heat. The device would be controlled by a bluetooth connection to a smartphone app but Sony may introduce automatic versions.
According to Sony’s product site, the Reon Pocket can supposedly cool a user’s body temperature by 13 degrees Celsius (23 degrees Fahrenheit). Meanwhile, on cold days, it says it can raise your temperature by about 8 degrees Celsius (about 14 degrees Fahrenheit).
It supports both android and iOS, has a battery life of 24 hours and a charge time of 2 hours. It will only weigh 3 ounces and will come in a pro and lite version.
Unfortunately, it will not be ready for consumer delivery until next year and then only in Japan. But if it is a success, you can expect an international version on the shelves soon after.
